Day 64

The staircase is almost done!

Sam loves to climb the stairs at his new house!

It just needs the rest of the spindles on the bottom part of the banister.

The painters came back today to start the final paint job. They will also be the ones who stain the stair treads and paint the risers.

Tomorrow, the cleaning team comes in to do a "rough clean." That basically means cleaning the windows, vacuuming up all the dust, cleaning the tubs/showers. They'll come back right before we close to do a detail clean that will have the house sparkling. The tub surround is also being delivered, and so are the logs for the fireplace.

Thursday or Friday, the appliances are being delivered and installed, which means the gas people can come out and set the propane tank and test the system. I'm SO excited to be able to cook with gas again!

We're on track to close late next week! I can hardly believe that the house is thatclose to being done!

Day 63

Today was sod and landscaping day for the house.

It took twelve pallets of sod to do the front yard and some of the sides of the house. It's our responsibility to do the rest of the sides and the back yard. I think we're going to try seeding it first, and if that doesn't work, we'll do sod.

Day 62

The staircase was finished today. It still needs to be stained and the banister needs to be put in place, but the treads are done! I don't have pictures because the trim guys accidently locked the inside garage door so I couldn't get inside to take them!! But it's done!!

Day 61

The house is all graded and ready for sod. The sprinkler system was installed today too.

Looks a lot different with all the dirt leveled out! The flags are where the sprinkler heads are.

The kitchen faucet was installed today.

Sam pulled out a bunch of flags, so I had to go around and replace them. He was SO MAD when I took them away from him! He thought he had done me a favor!

Day 60

I didn't end up taking any pictures today.....they graded the lot in preparation for sprinklers and sod and worked on plumbing. Not a whole lot of excitement there (besides, it was HOT!)

Day 59

I think that tomorrow might be staircase day. I saw a bunch of oak in the garage that looks a lot like tread for a staircase.....I hope so! I've been waiting to see this staircase for awhile!

Day 58

The floor guys had another job to do this morning so they got a late start at our house today. They were still hard at work when I left the house at 5:40 p.m. though! Even with the dust and packaging still around, the floors are gorgeous!

When I left, they had almost finished the living room. I'm not sure if they were going to stop there and do the rest (dining room, kitchen, hallways downstairs) tomorrow, or if they were going to work longer.

Carpet comes for the bedrooms tomorrow!

Day 57

Several things were done today, and this week is a big one!

The granite for The Bar was delivered today. It looks gorgeous!! The only thing left on this is the doors for the upper cabinets - they are off getting glass put in and will be back soon.

The plumbers started today, and we have toilets. Very important. I'm not sure that we really need FOUR of them, but I suppose it will come in handy if we all come down with the stomach flu at the same time....

And the trim guy came to fix the stairs!! They are all ready for the treads, which will be done this week!! I can't WAIT to see these....they will be GORGEOUS!!

Tomorrow, the hardwood floors are going in and plumbing will be finished up in the kitchen, master bathroom and laundry room (YAY for laundry sinks!). Wednesday, the carpeting will be going into the bedrooms. Stair treads are going in this week and will be stained to match the hardwood floors, and the cleaners come this week too.

Day 56

All the tile was grouted today in preparation for the plumbers to come on Monday. The grout really makes it look nice!

Laundry room.....can't wait to have all this room to actually sort in! Right now, we sort laundry in the dining room, since the laundry "room" is less than 20 sq. ft. - and I can't even close the door because it won't clear the front loaders.

Day 55

I didn't take any pictures today, because the only thing that really looks different is the spots where the drywall dude touched up the walls. He is done with the touchups and was starting to sand them when I was there this afternoon.

The tile is supposed to be grouted tomorrow, and the granite for The Bar is being delivered tomorrow too. I'll post pictures of those things!!

The cabinet for The Bar that was damaged in transit was replaced today so it would be ready for the granite.

The plumbing will be done on Monday - toilets installed, faucets installed, soaker tub connected, and water connected to the house. That will make way for the sprinkler system to be able to be installed next week too - and sod and landscaping to be done as well.

And with a little bit of luck, the staircase will be done next week!! I can't WAIT to see the staircase all stained and beautiful!!

I think we're in the home stretch now!

Day 54

Things that I didn't even know were going to happen happened today!!

The Bar...

The boys' bathroom vanity was installed today! Yay!

We did go over pretty early, so hopefully the tile will still arrive. There are only a few pieces that need to be installed and then it all needs grout.

The drywall was being touched up in places that it had been dinged during other installations so it will be nice and smooth for the final coat of paint. They take a halogen light and shine it on all the walls so any dings or flaws show up nice and clear so they get them all.

I really need to find Al's tape measure and get the windows measured for blinds!

Day 53

We have air conditioning! Very important for Georgia summers.....especially since it's supposed to be in the 90's this weekend.

The outside units - one for the upstairs, one for the downstairs.

Thermostat - we have two, one for each unit.

The registers are all installed.

They also started fixing the staircase today. There was a little miscommunication about how we wanted the stairs to look, but it will all be fixed!

The trim guy started today, and will work more tomorrow. Hopefully by next week, the staircase will be done.

Tomorrow, we have the vanity coming and marble being placed, and tile being finished. Friday, The Bar cabinet is being replaced (one was damaged in shipping) and Saturday, The Bar's countertop is being placed. Monday will be plumbing day!

And we have a closing date! We'll be closing June 16th. :)

Day 52

Still waiting on a few things to get the big stuff rolling again - but a big thing happened today! Let there be light!! We have the meter on the house and the lights are ON!

Not sure if you can see it, but the front porch lights are on in this picture. And of course, Sam, playing in his favorite place EVER - the sand box that IS his front yard. I'm not sure how he'll react when it's been sodded.....

Day 51

Not a lot went on today - we're kind of in a holding pattern, waiting for some cabinets to be delivered and some trim to be done. Once those things happen, everything will pick right back up!

The painters came today and painted the trey ceiling in the master bedroom, though.

And off to the left, you can sort of see the platform that the HVAC units will sit on when they are delivered and set up on Wednesday. The platform will be set tomorrow, and the electricity will be switched on, too.
